Why I’m Starting This Blog

Hello, and thanks for having a look at this first post.
I’ve been thinking about creating a place like this one for a while. A place that is perhaps les formal than the rest of the website, one that may be a bit more reflective, or that may offer some additional guidance. A place where I would not only talk about therapy and what it looks like, but also about other things that come up so often for many of us: how burnout looks like, the heavy backpack of guilt and shame, the exhaustion we carry without saying a word, the ways trauma sits and shows up in our bodies, and the small, steady steps that support us in becoming fully ourselves again.
When we start therapy, it can sometimes feel unclear, or even confusing. We look around, not always sure what actually to expect, we may also worry we’ll “do it wrong”. One of the reasons I started this blog is that we'll be able to have a peek onto the different ways in which I work and also what therapy can actually feel like. I don't want to do it in a textbook way but rather in a grounded one, a human one.
What I don't want to and won't do is to offer quick fixes or lists of different things we “should” be doing. This isn't how change tends to happen, change comes from within us. Instead, I'd like to share thoughts, ideas and perhaps an exploration of some concepts that might support us in understanding our experiences in a clearer way.
Things I'd like to write about are:
what counselling looks like - what to expect from our initial calls, how does the first session look like and what may happen as we move further forward
how our nervous system reacts and responds to stress and lived trauma
what makes burnout so common
the pressure we feel to cope, and what happens when we can’t
the healing role of nature, gentle movement, and our breath in supporting regulation every day
the messy, very human parts of being alive
and others :)
Some posts may be more about psychoeducation, some more about reflection, and some simply a few honest observations from my perspective as both a therapeutic counsellir and a human being navigating life and its challenges just like everyone else.
If you’re curious about therapy, thinking about starting, or simply looking to understand yourself in a more compassionate way, I hope you’ll find something here that feels not only useful, but perhaps more importantly - supportive.
Thanks for reading, and for being here as this space begins to take shape.
